The two boys, Billy and Mike, soon realize that they will be heading for a magical island, but only if they reach the destination in time.The story begins when a young boy named Billy sends his small boat into a lake where he is lost for several days. Finally, after a magical river takes him, he is ready to enter the Island of Plenty. However, his journey does not go as he planned. He meets a little girl, Lady Aster, who tells him about the Island's history, the people, and even her beautiful island home.From there, the story moves along the journey of Billy and Mike on their journey to the Island of Plenty. As they journey through the Island, Billy and Mike meet many people who helped them on their journey. Their journey to the Island of Plenty continues, and they soon learn that they have become the target of pirates who want the Island's treasures.Despite their short, brief sample, Island of Plenty by Johnson C. Montgomery is an exciting story filled with a lot of adventure. I especially loved how Princess Aster explained each and every person that they encountered on their journey. Their journey took them from rural villages, to fantasy lands, to magical islands.The island was such a fun place, and I definitely enjoyed reading it. The characters were especially charming, especially Billy and Mike. They had great personalities and were easily identifiable.The sample questions for the essay are all interesting, and they were designed to test the students' knowledge of the Island. These questions needed to be prepared, and they had some really good information to draw from. The Island of Plen ty by Johnson C. Montgomery is definitely a picture book that I would encourage my students to read.It is a story about the hardships of what it takes to survive in the ocean waters, and it did a good job at presenting that. The island also is full of a lot of magical happenings, and it was very entertaining to read. Of course, this all sounds good, but one has to remember that this book is not a storybook, so students should not expect it to be a text book.Overall, Sample Questions for the Essay Island of Plenty by Johnson C. Montgomery was a very fun book. It was different from most picture books, and it definitely took its time to make sure the students were interested in the story. The Island was a very interesting place, and I would definitely recommend this picture book.
